This Is My Notice!!

I have so much unfinished work sitting in my folder on here... I think I may have lost me somewhere along this new journey I'm on... So here's the deal, Ima work on getting these thoughts and stories shared.. For some reason I feel like what I have to say has to be long and drawn out and it doesn't. Stayed tuned, I'm cuttin in!!!!                                                                                                                     ~DaSixFoota~

Trials......

Have you ever stepped into something and thought WOW what a beautiful blessing and then it almost seems to turn to a nightmare? I have just recently had a trial experience. Started a brand new job.. Got back in the hair game! Was missing it, so I said to myself I needed to walk in it! Now I don't know if you know this about me or not but I'm the type that never meets a stranger. I'm super friendly and if a person doesn't like me it's because I didn't want them to. Simple enough right? So any who... This totally awesome environment that I ended up in was just everything to me until I started to realize that the owner was a bit of a fraud. The first thing that happened was that I found out she was cheating me in pay. Then I noticed she couldn't recognize her own fault. Then I noticed she didn't seem to like the fact that my co-stylists and I got along SUPER well! There is always lots of love and laughs!!! The even crazier part of it all was that rather tha...

I had to learn how to be grateful!!!

Yes, I said I had to learn to be grateful! I grew up a brat! My grandmother used to call me "Poor Little Rich Girl"... I acted like I was entitled to all the everythings that I had! Lookin back on my childhood I wish I had been more grateful or that at the very least I learned to be grateful a hell of a lot sooner than I had. Being grateful is more than saying thank you, it's an action you have to actually mean! Meaning that once you've accepted any gift (not necessarily material) you are appreciative and not on your way to talk trash about it. You've actually absorbed it and ready to process what's been given, in a positive manner. Boy have I grown. This hit me like a ton of bricks!! Me being ungrateful goes back so far it's almost like insanity to me! When I was married I was never grateful, I was a brat the entire time. If it wasn't my way then it was def a problem. Even when he was trying by giving me things, I was ungrateful... I acted as if he ow...

Relationships... Could you be "kept"?

Hey all... I haven't had much to say by way of relationships in a while, mainly because everyone and everything is so different these days. Things evolve and views change. It becomes a "to each his own" situation. We spoke some about this on The Wine Down and my basic opinion is whatever it is you choose to be, make sure that your doing it because it makes you happy... not because you want to please whomever you're with. It needs to be a win win or else you're losing... #thatisall       With that being said, I'd like to touch on a specific kind of relationship. How do you all feel about being "kept"? When I say this I mean, being in a relationship that's basically a business arrangement. You trade sex and company for financial gain. The older I get the more I start to be aware of what goes on around me and the reality is, there a lot of kept people in this world... and it's not just women being kept either if that's what your thinking!...

Black History a joke or nah???

This year I feel like Black History has been a joke. All those "first n*gga to" pix have really got me feeling some type of damn way! Then Nicki Minaj's dumbass releases her album cover and she uses an historical picture of Malcolm X with the title "Lookin A** *igga"... REALLY!!! I'm so flippin disgusted! And I've already touched on Zimmerman's simple antics... Then the verdict in the trial of Michael Dunn oh and then I read yesterday that yet another brown face baby has been shot by a white man while playing outside!!! And all of this going on during a time when we are supposed to be being celebrated as a people! We only get 28 days to celebrate the pioneers that paved the way for not just us, but everybody, to have the smallest of luxuries! Someone actually said to me "I think we should do away with Black History Month, look at what a joke it's become!" I was also told that I should lighten up because it's not that serious! Guess ...

George Zimmerman... AGAIN!!

Once again Zimmerman has found a way to make himself relevant and make fools out of black people. I completely understand why one would want to whoop his ass, but this attention is giving him power he doesn't deserve! He murdered one of our children in cold blood, and rather than ignoring his antics we help build this animal. When will this madness end? There's always someone in the back hollering BLACK PRIDE and that's the same idiot who wants to jump in the ring and lay hands on the devil. Wake up people, this is a gimmick!! Why support a man who not only hates us, but got away with the murder of one of us!! This situation truly makes me sick and I just wanted to speak on it!!!

Females these days

What in the name of home training is wrong with the female species these days... Why do you heifas think that its ok to not be able to cook, clean, or carry a conversation?? I have a news flash for you... the fellas are definitely checking for the ladies with their stuff together! I mean seriously, just think about it for a second. If you don't want a dude who ain't sh*t, what makes you think he want a chick who ain't sh*t?? He may watch you twerk, he may hang out, but a man knows whether or not he wants to be with you right from the start and if you're only doing what every other female he knows is doing, he's gonna treat you accordingly! I guess this could be counted as some sort of PSA because the rate of females out here making asses out of themselves is astounding! I probably don't need to say anymore but I'm gonna! It's necessary to know how to do more than roll a blunt. If you want to be on his arm then you better be able to lady yourself up a bit...

Funeral Selfies... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Funeral selfies.... Let me tell you people something, There couldn't be anything more inappropriate!!! I personally think that technology has made folks quite ignant!!! And YES, I said ignant! I mean for some, this is a time of mourning and here your ignant self comes snapping pix of yourself in front of a casket. A funeral is not a photo op, it's the time when you say farewell... And your last pic and or memory of them really shouldn't be them laid in that pine box! Now all I need is for someone to explain to me why this is supposed to be ok? Not only is this tacky but it's also disrespectful and not very considerate of the dead or the bereaved (that means absence of a loved one for those who don't read)!!! There was a time back in the day that the family would have a photo taken of their dearly departed for the family album. The photo only included the deceased. Wasn't looked at as an opportunity to throw up gang signs, pour a little bit out for the brothas th...

Food Blog coming soon!!!

So I'm thinking of starting a food blog in the New Year! I'm ready to have more new beginnings... Cooking is one of my many hats and through much encouragement I've finally got my head wrapped around sharing all the yummies I prepare!! There was a time when I thought cooking was just common sense, but as we all know sense ain't common... Nor is the ability to pull off even the simplest of dishes. I sometimes sit and wonder where I got this love of food, I definitely didn't start off this way. I could barely boil water and my first pot of greens had bugs floating in it! LOL! My idea of a home cooked meal was some heavily over seasoned hamburger helper. So as much as I would love to sit here and tell you that I've always aspired to be this GREAT chef and that I've been cooking since I was 2, I can't! Most of my creativity spills out into a lot of delicious food! I hope you guys enjoy my yum, yums!

Thigh Gap..

The thigh gap! That gap of space between a woman's thighs when they don't touch from being so thin. An absurdity that was brought to my attention by my bestie. Why must society insist on putting a stigma on beauty? I was always taught that beauty was in the eye of the beholder. And with the world the way it is now, women are coming in all shapes, sizes, and colors and are very beautiful as an assortment. There is a model, Robyn Lawley... She's 6'2 and fabulous! A fellow long legg! She's considered in the modeling world as a plus size model. She was ridiculed for not having this thigh gap and she spoke out on it. I was very impressed by the way she stood up for herself and others who may be the same way. I would say that she gives hope to the females who aren't twigs that want to pursue a modeling career. The one thing I never understood about modeling is that in real life, no one is a perfect size 0, if that could be considered perfect. Even when you go shopping...

Social Network Etiquette

Let me tell you why I'm mad son! I'm mad because it seems that a lot of social networks have turned into eHarmony or black people meet or even a bad episode of the love connection! Now don't get me wrong I have met some really great people on mine but what I don't get is when a dude decides to get all up in my inbox trying to get personal when I've never expressed any interest in him whatsoever! It's very invasive for a strange, "potential stalker" to just climb up in your inbox and be like "Hey tall thing, why don't you let me take you out on the best date of your life!" Like seriously!? The proper thing to do would be to start off with a few public hellos, or good mornings, or have a nice day. Then you don't seem like some overbearing piece of man trash with no home training! I know there is a very fine line with being friendly and being flirty, but I'm not even completely sure I have seen the line it's so fine. What I know ...

"The Wine Down"

Image
So as most of you know I had my first show on blogtalk radio last night... I am just so freakin excited about the chance to have my own show with full creative choice. I went on with nervous excitement and slowly fell into a comfortable groove! For someone who started out a hair stylist by trade, who would've ever thunk I would be out entertaining the masses?? I've got to say though that I do believe that I enjoy this WAY more than doing hair... Hmmmmm?? I hope that's not a bad thing. What am I saying, I'm DaSixFoota I can wear as many hats as I want! I'm ready to take OVA the world! I would also like to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone who listened and called in to show support... You made my first night that much easier and helped me to really feel like this is where I belong. I'm just so grateful I could burst! I don't want to talk you to death with all this, I just feel like it's extremely important to express my gratitude!

High Heel Anthem*

Ladies.. When you get in your heels... What song do you walk to? Have you ever even thought about this? I'm inclined to believe that every woman has a high heel anthem... Even if you've never thought about it, trust me it's there. There is something that just takes over when you slip into a pair of stilettos... Especially when it's your favorite pair! Whether it's Guns 'n Roses or 2 Live Crew. Mine is Wu- Tang's Gravel Pit. I have no clue why but that's what plays in my head as I'm walking in my heels. So Ladies, and Gents too, if you happen to be one who rock heels, do me a favor next time you put on them shoes...listen to the music in your head and tell me where it takes you. I've had a couple girlfriends tell me they never even thought about 'til I said something, but realized it was true. I'm curious so hit me back and tell me about your high heel anthem!

Back on my tall girl thang... Shorties!

How many of my long legged ladies are ok with dating a shorter man? I am personally on the fence about it. And the crazy part about me saying I'm on the fence is the fact that I've done it.. Just not completely sure I totally loved it! Some of them were whiney, some of them were goofy, but what most of them lacked was the ability to be man enough for me. I need a man with a very strong personality. And it really could've been me... but the short guys seemed to have been lacking that certain assertiveness that I need to help us balance. Or maybe he had it but the fact that I was lookin down at him made it hard for me to take him seriously! LOL.. I went through an "I'm gonna date whomever is dating me" phase. I gave the shorter brothers a chance.. They are always so confident in their approach and then become these little whimps during the dating period and I just would find myself wondering "What happened to the dude who approached me? Was he a stunt dou...

Double Standard Dating... To Gay or Not To Gay???

I don't even know where to begin with this. On a couple of totally separate situations I've encountered women who have dated and/or been approached by men who openly admit to having been intimate with other men... So maybe I should gauge this as a question. Could you or would you date a man that tells you that he's been in a sexual relationship with another man? Does this make him gay, bi, or just curious? If it was only a one time thing could you look past it? I've been going around and around on how to write this because I was not sure if my opinion should even way in on this. I would like to say though that when it comes to this subject there seems to be a double standard. When a woman is intimate with another woman that's considered sexy. Would a man look at the female he was interested in differently if she had been with another woman?  I can say that I've never heard a man say he couldn't date a chick cause she participated in a ...

Friends...how many of us have them?

I just recorded a vlog about friends! I got inspired to write a little something because all of you may not subscribe to my youtube channel, which you should, (Msladylongleggs). Here is the basic gist of it: It's very important to build lasting friendships... The people you spend the most time around are the people who influence you the most. I've learned over the years that taking a good friendship for granted will put you in a very lonely, hurtful way. I can speak on this because I've put all my friendships to the test. Finally, it got to the point where I had to ask myself, "do u wanna be alone?" The answer to that is an obvious NO! I don't want to be without the ladies that I can be myself around. The ones who could care less if I'm perfect. The ones whose babies call me auntie and Peia! The long and short of it is that without them, life would be pretty damn boring and DaSixFoota just don't do boring hunty! That's it for now and remember... ...

Just a Thought..

Why do females make fun of tall girls? Is it because they wish they were tall? Is it because of what they call "hating"? I just don't get it. I'm the type to embrace any and all. My girlfriends are all shapes and sizes. And when we're out we're usually to busy having a good time to be concerned with what height the next chick is... That's it for now and remember... stand TALL, be GREAT in all & ever GRATEFUL!

Opportunities...

Through this journey I've been learning that you have to take a look at any and all opportunities. The good and the bad. Situations that are placed in front of you are placed there for a reason. How many people actually take the time to consider their opportunities??? I know a lot of my mine were avoided because of fear.  The fear of the unknown, the fear of failure and rejection, but mostly the fear of what others would think. How crazy is that?? I started too realize that I cared way to much about what others thought about what I was doing and I really had no idea I did until all this started. Why did I care so much about how MY opportunities would affect anyone but me? This growth spurt has been a breath of fresh air. Not only have I learned to take the bull by the horns, I've also learned that it's ok if everything that comes my way isn't necessarily for me. Just wanted to share that. Thanx for reading & Remember... stand TALL, be GREAT in all and ...

Posture Ladies!!!

I was watching TV with my cousin and I see this tall female sashaying around all hunched over. It makes me wonder when I see tall females like this, do they have any idea how ugly it looks? I'm thinking the reason for it is usually because they don't like being tall and try to make themselves less noticeable but, dolls let me explain something to you... It looks hideous and makes you stand out even more!!! I grew into loving my height but I had positive reinforcement. At some point you need decide to take charge, look in the mirror, size yourself up and say "I'm beautiful dammit!!!?" Through all my research I see a lot of women that are 5'10 and above who say they hate their height and that they do slouch over or sit a lot. They don't wear heels, they can't date, they wish they could be made shorter, etc.. etc... I really think it's sad. I find being 6'0 to be pretty magnificent. Now as I said I had to grow into loving this but that happened fo...

What grinds my gears!!!!

Today I think I'm going rant a little bit about the one thing that really just PISSES me off!!! I can't stand for a person to tell me they're going do something and then give me a load of BS about why it didn't get done when the time comes! Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to just simply not tell a person that you can or you will!!!? I feel like my intelligence is being insulted...  I just don't like it, I think it's rude and belittling... It also makes me feel as though I'm being kept underfoot.. Now I haven't always lived by this one thing that drives me bonkers. I've had my fair share of let downs and being a disappointment in some cases. Over the years I figured out I can't please everybody. I'm assuming all of this comes with that little thing they call growing up. I mean maybe I'm asking for to much. Reality is that you really can't expect anyone to think what you think, feel how you feel, or even care abou...
